Chios has its own airport, but no direct flights from northern Europe so the connection via Athens or Thessaloniki is required. If flying via Athens, the flight itself is only about 35 minutes in the air (50 on the timetable, which is the figure the routes below use) and there are at least four flights every day, even in the off-season.
From most European capitals, the total travel time should be between five and six hours, and prices generally hover between €200 and €450 return, depending where you start.
The missing presence of budget airlines with direct flights to the island is probably the main reason why the island has not turned into a resort spot.
Prefer a wider margin in Athens than the schedules below allow? Build in a longer layover and the day stretches for a few hours. Some teams would rather have that cushion, or even spend a night in Athens to regroup, before departing to Chios together.

Chios airport sits just south of the town, and the Kampos estates are a few minutes further. Nobody will spend an hour in a coach at the end of the day.
Athens is the obvious route and the one almost everybody takes. However there are another two viable alternatives worth having in mind.
Chios is also connected to Thessaloniki all year round, though the number of flights is reduced to several a week instead of multiple daily flights. For anyone flying from a city with a good Thessaloniki link, or facing an awkward Athens connection on their date, it could work well.
There is a daily overnight ferry from Athens, taking roughly eight hours. If your team is keen on a sailing experience, this could be an interesting option. The blue metro line connects the airport directly to the port of Piraeus where the ferry sails from.
